German vs Baroque Fingering for Recorders

Baroque fingering is by far the most accepted, but some say German fingering is easier to learn; simple close all the holes on a German fingered recorder and lift them one by one to get a scale for c or f instruments. Semi tones are more difficult on German fingered recorders which is more of a hinderence when playing advanced music.

In the baroque fingering, you must fork your fingers to play, for instance, the note f on a soprano. It is a bit more difficult for children to learn, but you can play the chromatic scale in tune over 2 octaves, which is why baroque is the more dominant form of fingerings, and is recomended. Switching from Baroque to German fingering and vice versa is always possible, though, as the difference is only a matter of a few sem-itones.
